This search engine works with a self-developed PERL script. The search routine itself is performed by the AGREP program developed by the Glimpse working team of the University of Arizona. We choose agrep because of its compatibility with Chinese Big5 codes and its booleean support.

Boolean search syntax

'good;bad' will find all entries containing both 'good' AND 'bad')
'good, bad' will find all entries containing 'good' OR 'bad')
'good deed' will find all entries containing the string 'good deed'

Concrete examples
孟;荀will find all entries containing both 孟 and 荀
象數,術數 will find all entries containing either 象數 or 術數
jing,Jing will find all entries containing either jing or Jing   *note

Further Tips:
Owing to Chinese search requirement, all searches are case sensitive; sub-string matching is by default enabled!
To rule out unneccessary errors, accidentally entered leading and trailing spaces, as well as spaces between any two Chinese search words will be neglected, ie. tolerated.
