4.念佛 [nian4fo2], v.t., chant Buddhist scriptures or say prayers to Buddha.
5.念經 [nian4jing1], v.t., chant Buddhist scriptures (also wr. 唸).
6.念咒 [nian4zhou4], v.t., utter charms to exorcise demons (also wr. 唸).
7.念珠 [nian4zhu1], n. & v.t., (tell) beads.

9.念書 [nian4shu1], v.i. & t., (1) study or read; (2) study in school; (3) (in a gen. sense) receive an education: 念書有什麼用 what's the use of an education?
10.念誦 [nian4song4], v.t., (1) remember (s.o.) in speaking to another: 老太太正念誦著你吶 the old lady is always mentioning you in our talks; (2) read (s.t.) aloud, also wr. 唸.
11.念頭 [nian4tou0], n., idea, thought, what one is thinking of at any given moment, often evil thought: 不知他有什麼念頭 I don't know what are his intentions: 轉念頭 try to win the favors of s.o. (esp. of a woman).
12.念秧 [nian4yang1], n., (coll. north China) a fraud or deception.
13.念央兒 [nian4yang1er0], v.i., beat about the bush.
