Adv	An interrogative particle used for positive assertion, meaning “how” (=could not): 豈能 how could; 豈有 how could it be?豈有此理 how could such a thing be possible?--it is absurd; 豈可如此 how could this be allowed?--should not be allowed; oft. with 不，無 is it not (=it is): 豈不重複 would it not be redundant?豈不容易 wouldn’t it be easy?豈不知 doesn't (he) know? oft. goes with final particle 乎 or 哉：豈不危乎(or 哉) would it not be dangerous; 豈敢，豈止 [qi3gan3], [qi3zhi3]↓.
