V	(1)  To smoke, cure (fish, etc.) by smoking; p.p., smoked (fish, duck, etc.). (2)  To scent, fumigate: 熏衣裳 fumigate clothing, also to scent over slow fire, see 熏爐 [xUn1lu2]↓. 熏蚊子 drive out mosquitoes by special incense. (3)  To assail the nostrils: 氣焰熏天 a person's power stinks to heaven; 臭氣熏人 its stink is irritating. (4)  To poison by gas: 被煤氣熏著了 be suffocated by gas; 熏死了 suffocated to death. (5)  (Coll.) to berate (person): 今天他熏了我一頓 he gave me a scolding today. (6)  (*[xUn4]) To stain one's reputation: 這個人都熏了 this man has a bad reputation (there fore to be avoided), cf. 薰染，薰^陶 20A.63.
