1. What is QuickCam?

• QuickCam is a digital video camera for the Macintosh. It is using direct digital imaging to create black and white QuickTime movies. QuickTime is a kind of software makes using the camera a snap.

2. The usage of QuickCam

   You supply the talent, QuickCam does the rest. You can use the eye-ball to snap the moving image and edit it in the Macintosh. Thus a movie with sound background is produced.

In addition, QuickCam software integrates perfectly with the Macintosh, so you ca n add live video and still images to all of your favorite applications. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

4. Hardware technical issue

• QuickCam can work on all QuickTime compatible Macintoshes. The len which QuickCam uses is 3.6mm len. It is about the same as a camera with a wide angle len. The focus is fixed from 18 inches to infinity. Therefore with QuickCam anything at a distance or greater than 18 inches is in focus. There is no need for you to focus by yourself. The sensitive of the camera is the usable light range from 2EV to 11EV. EV is the unit describing the illumination. I can tell in our offices during the d ay, the illumination is about 7EV. It also includes a microphone which used to receive the sound.
• It's better for QuickCam to work under the temperature from -10 C to 40 C

5. Software technical issue

• You can do videoconferencing with QuickCam. However, the network will be slowed down because it is too slow to handle video data. The solution is to use the well written videoconferencing applications balance network. CU-See me by Cornell University is a kind of software compatible with QuickCam. It allows videoconferencing between Macintosh and Personal computers running windows.

6. Resolution

• The resolution of QuickCam can up to 320x240 pixels. This is the standard pixels.
