Summary on a Newsgroup - hk.comp.pc

by Thomas Tam

I would like to introduce the newsgroup hk.comp.pc. This newsgroup is a local newsgroup for Hong Kong people to discuss anything about PC, particularly IBM PC compatibles. As this newsgroup is for Hong Kong people only, both Chinese and English are acceptable. Here you can see a variety of questions: "What is a VRM socket?", "How to play Video-CD?", "Is HKStar better than AsiaOnline?", "What is Pipeline Burst Cache/EDO Ram?", "Why my 1GB harddisk only gets 528 MB?", "Any advice on buying ZIP drive?", "How to upgrade the BIOS?", "Which is the genuine dealer of Intel CPUs in HK?", "What is the difference between DX4 AND DX4 Overdrive?", "Which motherboard is good?" and so on. Usually, there are replies to these questions. In addition, some will post their comments, announcements or advice in this newsgroup, such as "Be careful of the remark CPU!", "Cyrix begins to ship 6x86 chips yesterday." and "You'd better get a Pentium rather than a Pentium Pro if you chiefly run 16-bit applications.". You can learn much about PC from this newsgroup.

Next time when you have a problem about PC, try to post it in this newsgroup. You will probably get the solution within a few days. Besides, if you know the answers to the questions posted, you can reply them.
