V	(1)  To part with (what is dear): 難分難捨 (of lovers) find it difficult to tear apart; 割捨 cut off (what is dear); 捨掉 abandon, forsake; 捨得，捨不得 [she3de0], [she3bu4de2]↓; 捨命 [she3ming4]↓; 捨死忘生 risk one's life for some worthy cause; 捨身救人 sacrifice one's life to save others; 捨生取義 prefer honor to life; 捨近取遠 go for the abstruse and forget the obvious; 捨己從人 give up one's own views and follow others. (2)  To give alms: 捨粥，捨飯 to give gruel or rice to the poor; 施捨 give alms, contribute to a monastery.
