*********************************************************** Guide to German History Resources on the Internet *********************************************************** Introduction This guide was compiled to be used as a reference by persons interested in locating resources for the study German history that are (or are planned to be) available on the Internet. In selecting materials, the intention was to locate resources specific to German history. In reality many of the resources'discovered'and included in this guide concern German history in the context of European history. This guide is one of several guides being developed at the University of Michigan as part of the Internet Resource Discovery Project (IRDP).The resources were identified between April and August of 1993. The Comments are my own and are not intended to be the final word on the resource described. Comments, additions, corrections are gladly accepted.I intend to continue developing the guide following my graduation at the end of August---once I've landed a job and a new Internet address. Therefore, please forward suggestions, resources, contacts and updates that can be used to improve the next version of this guide. I strongly recommend use of the HNSource (entry 1.1) at the University of Kansas as a starting point for locating history related resources and for connecting to other "history-rich" sites. Another site to monitor for new developments is the University of Bremen. They are apparently working on establishing an FTP site, named KLIO, for German historians. I would like to thank Lou Rosenfeld of the University of Michigan for his guidance and support: he made the frustrations of "closed by foreign host" and "host unknown" bearable. Thanks to all of those persons who got me started and continued to supply resources and clarification along the way. In particular thanks to Holde Borcherts, German Bibliographer at the University of Michigan, Jim Campbell at the University of Virginia, Lynn Nelson at the University of Kansas, Miriam Levy at University of Hartford, and Johannes Ullrich at SUNY-Albany. Finally, thanks to my good friend Linda Heise who created a guide on Diversity for the IRDP: she shared her many Internet tips and she kept me laughing!!
