Synopsis 

The Programmes in Comparative Studies in Linguistics, Literature and Culture are cross-departmental, multi-disciplinary programmes based in the Faculty of Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They offer degrees in Linguistics, as well as Comparative Literature & Cultural Studies. The objectives are to extend the frontiers of comparative research in linguistics, literature and culture in Hong Kong as well as the Asian-Pacific region. The programmes encourage research into issues of language, literature and culture pertinent to the local context, with an emphasis on general theory and methodology arising from comparative studies. Students may work on Linguistics, Comparative Literature or Cultural Studies, or on topics that cut across these disciplines. 

The postgraduate programmes will lead to the award of the following degrees: 
M.Phil. /Ph.D. in Linguistics 
M.Phil./ Ph.D. in Comparative Literature & Cultural Studies
